Factors to keep in mind when planning materials
and tasks for your mailing:
-
Time is everything. The longer it takes
us to process your bulk mail job, the more it costs. On a mailing
of 2,000
pieces involving 5 tasks,
shaving off even 1 second per task eliminates almost 3 hours, or
$90.00. Plan your mailing so that it requires fewer time-intensive
tasks and
more time-efficient ones.
- Plan ahead. Get us involved before you finalize your design. Have
any permit imprint placed on your camera-ready art. Fax us a copy of
the
mailing panel so that we can review it for compliance with USPS regulations
before you copy or print.
- Paper choice. If rubber-stamping is required on your job, don’t
use glossy paper, which is often impermeable to ink and slow to
dry. If your mail pieces will be metered, don’t use dark colored
paper (the red meter ink won’t show).
- Folding. Machine folding
(single sheets) is much quicker than hand-folding. You’ll save
if 2 or more inserts can be machine-folded individually rather than
being collated and hand-folded together.
- Mailing labels. Be sure that labels you print or purchase are in
zip code order, and that address and zip code information is accurate.
Provide us with zip code breakdown reports whenever possible. If
you want us
not to use certain labels, it is better to cross through them
with a bright colored pen than to remove them from the backing. Standard
self-adhesive
labels on white or colored paper take less time to affix than
transparent
labels.
